Le pot de fleurs
Theophile Gautier
Sort de terre, fleurit et devient arbrisseau ;
Sur les débris du pot brandir ses verts poignards ;
Il la veut arracher, mais la tige est tenace ;
Ainsi germa l'amour dans mon âme surprise ;

lyrics
Lyrics:
Meet me just outside the old McAllister Hotel.
The street gets pretty quiet; we can sit there for a spell.
Tell me all about your day — I hope it's going well,
but I can be a shoulder if you feel like hell.
We don't have to say a word — it wouldn't be a crime
if we sat there just pretending we have all kinds of time.
How I’d love to see you in a garden you have grown,
away from all the chaos of this tangled life you've known —
living for the feeling of your fingers in the soil,
surrounded by a comfort not a soul can spoil.
Sometimes when I close my eyes, I see you standing there,
In a home with all you've wanted — and you'll have it all, I swear.
I've been saving up for something big that's coming soon.
I really wanna tell you what it is; I wish I knew.
The only thing I'm sure of is I'm bound to see it through,
and when it's time to celebrate, well, it ought to be with you.
You know it's hard for me to dream when most my dreams have died...
but I still believe in dreaming, 'cause it brought me to your side.
